My grocery shopping trip is something of a highlight each week. Tells you something about how exciting my life is. I plan the trip ahead based on sales fliers, and get really excited about the printed receipt that tells me how much I've saved.
This week I shopped at Meijer (You can see their weekly ad at Meijer.com) and found some fun savings. For one, I got free strawberries for buying 4 packages of Jello on sale for 2/$1. Kraft Singles American Cheese was on sale for $2.19, but the exciting thing was the packaging which has an offer of buy one get one free minor league baseball tickets. If we can't use that offer, I'm sure one of our kids will be glad to. Watching the packaging pays; Some deli-sliced meats were on sale at a not-too-bad price, but the $1 Off coupon on some of the packages made it a great price.
Now, these were good deals, but I know I should have done better. The items I mentioned are all brand-name, and I know there must be coupons available online for even better savings. I see those "Extreme Couponing" experts and realize there are ways to save that I'm not using. Unfortunately, I am not really looking for a full-time job and that's what extreme couponing seems to be. But I have to put some effort into finding good coupon sites for my grocery shopping. It will make the trips cheaper, and consequently more fun.
